An experimental drug kills fat cells, rather than shrinking them
FROM THE PUBLISHER
The drug, called CBL-514, specifically triggers fat cells to enter a death program called apoptosis . People who got injections of the experimental drug in their lower abdomens lost visceral fat , researchers reported October 1 at the annual meeting of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes in Milan, Italy. Visceral fat sits deep in the abdomen where it chokes organs and can spur inflammation and health problems.
